Irish Wolfhound Association of the Carolinas Membership Information

The Irish Wolfhound Association of the Carolinas (IWAC) organized in 1992 as a not–for-profit 501(c)7 organization. We believe that all owners and all who love Irish Wolfhounds should be connected within our region, and we invite you to join IWAC. 

​

The objectives of the club are:

• To encourage and sponsor education in all areas pertaining to the health & welfare of the Irish Wolfhound

• To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed, as approved by The American Kennel Club, as the only standard of excellence by which Irish Wolfhounds shall be judged

• To do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials and field trials

• To conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows, obedience trials, and field trials and any other event for which the club is eligible under the Rules and Regulations of The American Kennel Club

• To support rescue, rehoming, and placement efforts conducted by the Irish Wolfhound Rescue of the Mid South and other rescue organizations acting in the best interest of the Irish Wolfhound

Club membership requirements are:

• If you compete you must be in good standing with the American Kennel Club (AKC)

• If a member of the Irish Wolfhound Club of America (IWCA), you need to be in good standing

• You must subscribe to the objectives of IWAC (see above),

• You must abide by the IWAC bylaws. A copy of these can be found at www.iwams.org under the “Home” tab. The full text of IWAC Membership rules can be found in Article I

The membership year runs from January 1st through December 31st, and is unrestricted as to where you live, however, the club’s primary purpose is to be representative of the owners and breeders in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

If you are a new member, you are required to apply first as an Associate Member. For Associate and Junior membership, one IWAC member recommendation is suggested but not required. After two years, Associate members are eligible to apply for Regular or Household membership. For Regular or Household membership, two IWAMS Regular Member recommendations are required. If you need assistance with acquiring recommendations, please contact the club through our website, and a board member will contact you.

 

There are three types of membership:

Regular (Individual & Household [2 individuals]) – $20 Individual / $25 Household Annually *Open to those over 18 years of age who have first been Associate Members for at least 2 years *Entitled to all club privileges, including voting, holding office, and serving on committees.

Associate (Individual) – $10 Annually *Over 18 years of age *Entitled to all club privileges except voting and holding office *Must hold an Assoc. Membership for at least 2 years prior to applying for Regular Membership.

Junior (Individual - under 18 years of age) – $5 Annually *Entitled to all Club privileges except voting and holding office *Not considered a Regular Member
